Natural Wonders' inaugural event!

Happy new year! 2011 is International Year of Forests, which fits in nicely with the Natural Wonders Family Nature Group ethos.

Whilst this blog has remained a bit neglected over Xmas and New Year, the group have been regularly catching up at local parks to organise our first event: Discovering the birdlife of Lake Monger. It will take place on Sunday the 30th January. As well as having a focus on bird and other widlife, we have received some litter clean-up kits from Keep Australia Beautiful Council of WA to use. So, armed with our fact sheets, activity sheets, sunsmart gear, first aid kit and clean up kits we will be ready to explore Lake Monger! At this stage our young participants will range in age from 1 to 4 years, so birdwatching activities have been organised for the older kids.

Once we have held this event we can start to expand our group further, and eventually do some more "off road" exploring. We have also started to schedule in future events for 2011 to coincide with "Green dates" including Clean up Oz Day, Seaweek and National Tree Day. I really believe all our adult and child group members are going to have a great time at each of our events, and hopefully learn a lot about our local environment. Stay tuned for pics of our experiences!
